Chinese Enterprises Undertake the 2034 Saudi Arabia World Cup Stadium and Surrounding Sports Village Project
Recently, Saudi Arabia's Jeddah Center Development Company awarded the Jeddah Sports Stadium and surrounding sports village project to a consortium composed of China Railway Construction and SAMA Construction Contracting Company for construction. After completion, the project will be used to host the 2034 Saudi Arabia Football World Cup.
The Jeddah Sports Stadium and surrounding sports village project is located in Jeddah City, Mecca Province, Saudi Arabia. The total construction area of the project is about 500000 square meters, including 1 sports stadium and 4 sports villages. Among them, the total construction area of the Jeddah Sports Stadium project is about 360000 square meters, including 2 underground floors and 7 above ground floors, with a total height of 54 meters. It can accommodate more than 46000 spectators and will be built according to FIFA standards. The design inspiration comes from the ancient city of Ballard in Jeddah, which has a long history and restores the local traditional architectural style. The roof is designed with large-span steel structure and membrane structure, and the roof facial mask above the lawn area can be expanded according to the weather conditions. Approximately 14000 square meters of solar photovoltaic panels are used on the roof to help build a green venue. Air conditioning systems will be installed inside the venue and under the seats in the stands, providing a comfortable viewing experience for the audience. The sports village is located around the sports stadium and will provide commercial, entertainment, medical and educational services for the events.
Previously, the main stadium of the 2022 Qatar World Cup Lusail Stadium contracted by China Railway Construction International Group was the first World Cup main stadium contracted by a Chinese enterprise as a general contractor of design and construction, demonstrating the strength of China's construction. The project of Jeddah Stadium and surrounding sports villages is another world-class stadium contracted by CRCC after Lusail Stadium. This is the achievement of Chinese enterprises in high-end construction, which will further drive Chinese design, Chinese manufacturing, and Chinese technology to go to sea, work together with the global industrial chain, and create a civilized landmark for high-quality joint construction of the "the Belt and Road".
